Signs Mice May Be Active

Mice often remain hidden, but they usually leave evidence behind. Common signs include:

  • Small droppings in cupboards, drawers, basements, utility areas or storage rooms
  • Scratching or movement inside walls, ceilings or attics
  • Damaged food packaging
  • Gnaw marks on wood, plastic, wiring or stored materials
  • Shredded paper, insulation or fabric used for nesting
  • Repeated sightings, especially at night

Finding one mouse can indicate activity in hidden areas. An inspection helps determine where mice are travelling and where treatment should be placed.

Treat the Activity. Address How Mice Are Getting In.

Controlling the mice already inside is one part of the solution. Openings around utility lines, foundations, doors, vents, roof intersections, garages and other vulnerable areas may allow new activity to develop.

Mice Treatment

Treatment addresses current activity inside the property using methods selected for the areas and conditions found during inspection.

Entry-Point Exclusion

Exclusion repairs or seals relevant openings to help reduce the chance of mice entering again.

Minor openings may sometimes be addressed during treatment. Larger sealing, repairs or proofing are assessed and quoted separately.

Do not seal a suspected active opening before the property has been assessed. Mice may still be inside, and closing one opening without understanding the activity may move the problem to another area.

What to Expect From Mice Control

01

Inspect

Inspect accessible areas for droppings, travel routes, nesting evidence, food sources and likely entry conditions.

02

Choose the Treatment Plan

Select the treatment method and placement according to the property, level of activity, access and customer circumstances.

03

Place and Explain Treatment

Install the selected treatment devices and explain where they are placed, what customers should avoid touching and what to expect next.

04

Review Follow-Up and Prevention

Arrange follow-up when needed and explain any entry-point or prevention recommendations identified during service.

A Treatment Plan Suited to the Property

Tamper-resistant bait stations are commonly used for mice control. Depending on the property and activity, traps, monitoring devices or a combination of methods may also be used.

Treatment placement is selected after inspection. A house, restaurant, warehouse, apartment building and office may each require a different layout and follow-up plan.

Treatment devices should remain where the technician places them. Customers should not open, move or handle bait stations. Children and pets should be kept away from treatment devices, and all technician instructions should be followed.

Mice Control Questions

What should I do after seeing a mouse?

Make a note of where and when you saw it and look for droppings, damaged packaging or other signs of activity without disturbing hidden areas. Avoid sealing suspected openings or adding treatment products before the situation has been assessed. Contact Reliant to discuss the activity and arrange the appropriate next step.

Most customers do not need extensive preparation. Improving access to affected areas and removing exposed food sources may be recommended. Any preparation specific to the property will be explained before treatment.

Bait is placed inside tamper-resistant stations positioned according to the property and treatment plan. Customers should not open, move or handle the stations. Children and pets should be kept away from treatment devices, and all technician instructions should be followed.

Some properties show significant improvement after the initial treatment, while others require monitoring or follow-up. The number of visits is influenced by the level of activity, property conditions and whether mice can continue entering the building.

Pricing is based on the property, level of activity, treatment requirements, access, follow-up needs and any exclusion work requested. Reliant can provide a free estimate by phone. The final recommendation and price are confirmed after the situation has been assessed.

If mice activity continues during that period, contact Reliant to arrange reassessment and follow-up treatment at no additional service charge.
