Why mosquitoes build up around a property
Standing water can support breeding, while shaded vegetation provides places for adult mosquitoes to rest. Rain, warmth and nearby habitat can change the level of activity through the season.
Water that collects
Buckets, planters, toys, tarps and poorly draining areas may hold water. Even small collections of standing water can support mosquitoes.
Shade and surrounding habitat
Dense vegetation and sheltered, damp areas may support resting mosquitoes. Activity can also arrive from neighbouring properties and nearby natural areas.
Finding mosquitoes in your yard does not mean they all developed there. An assessment helps identify contributing conditions and the areas that can reasonably be addressed.
A plan for your outdoor spaces
Start with the property
Reliant assesses reported mosquito activity, standing water, shaded resting areas, vegetation, access and the outdoor spaces you want to use. Yards, patios, decks and landscaped areas help define the service discussion.
Target appropriate areas
Treatment focuses on suitable mosquito resting and activity areas identified during assessment and included in the quote. Reliant also explains useful source-reduction steps and what falls outside the treatment scope.
Outdoor mosquito control reduces activity; it does not seal the property against incoming insects. Mosquitoes can continue to enter from surrounding areas. Indoor activity should be discussed separately when you call.
Before your visit: ask about preparation, children, pets and use of outdoor spaces. Re-entry guidance depends on the treatment selected for the property; follow the instructions provided by Reliant.
Two scheduled treatments. Timing that follows conditions.
Reliant’s standard mosquito program normally includes two scheduled treatments. Each visit is planned around actual mosquito activity and appropriate site and weather conditions.
TREATMENT 1
Early in the active season
The first treatment is timed for the early part of the active mosquito season, based on the activity and conditions at your property.
TREATMENT 2
A later seasonal visit
The second treatment is scheduled according to mosquito pressure, weather and property conditions. There is no fixed public calendar date or universal interval between visits.
Some properties may require additional treatments depending on mosquito pressure, property conditions, surrounding habitat, weather and other site-specific factors.
The two-visit program is Reliant’s standard service model. The number of treatments your property needs can differ.
How the service works
01 · Assess and explain
Review mosquito activity and contributing conditions, then confirm the treatment areas, quote and service expectations.
02 · First treatment
Complete the first scheduled outdoor treatment when mosquito activity and conditions support the visit.
03 · Second treatment
Complete the later scheduled treatment at a time guided by seasonal activity, weather and property conditions.
04 · Review continued activity
Contact Reliant if activity continues or returns. Follow-up and warranty service apply according to the mosquito-service terms.
Reduce mosquito pressure between visits
Small property changes can reduce breeding opportunities and sheltered resting areas. These steps support professional treatment, but they cannot control every source beyond your property.
Look for recurring water
- Empty or turn over unused containers that collect rain.
- Check planters, toys, buckets and folds in stored tarps.
- Maintain drainage and keep gutters clear where accessible.
- Refresh water in bird baths and other maintained containers regularly.
Watch the conditions
- Keep vegetation maintained around outdoor seating and paths.
- Note shaded, damp areas where activity is recurring.
- Tell Reliant where and when mosquitoes are most noticeable.
- Report persistent standing water that you cannot reasonably address.
Property maintenance and source reduction are separate from the quoted professional treatment. Reliant can explain which findings matter for your service plan.
What affects mosquito-control pricing?
The quote reflects the property, treatment area and service needs. There is no single price that fits every yard.
Property and access
- Property size and the area to be treated
- Vegetation, layout and access
- Drainage and other site conditions
Activity and treatment needs
- Level and spread of mosquito activity
- Surrounding habitat and recurring conditions
- Number of treatments required
Reliant provides free estimates by phone based on the information available. The final service recommendation and price are confirmed after the property and activity have been assessed. Some properties may need treatment beyond the standard two-visit program.
A 3-month service warranty after program completion
Reliant’s standard mosquito program normally includes two scheduled treatments. After completion of the standard program, Reliant provides a 3-month service warranty according to the approved mosquito-service terms.
The warranty is a service commitment, not a guarantee that no mosquito can enter the property or that pesticide residue will provide three months of complete mosquito suppression.
Continued activity can be influenced by weather, surrounding properties, vegetation, standing water and other environmental conditions. Some circumstances may require additional treatment or a modified service approach.
If activity continues or returns during the covered period, contact Reliant to discuss assessment and follow-up under your mosquito-service terms.
Mosquito control questions
How many mosquito treatments do I need?
Reliant’s standard program normally includes two scheduled treatments. The assessment and conditions at your property determine whether additional treatment may be needed.
Why does Reliant normally use two treatments?
The program includes an initial treatment and a later seasonal treatment so the service can address activity at more than one point in the active season. Two visits are not a promise of complete or season-long suppression for every property.
When are mosquito treatments performed?
The first visit is timed for the early part of the active mosquito season and the second is scheduled later. Timing depends on mosquito activity, weather and site conditions rather than fixed calendar dates.
Can some properties need more than two treatments?
Some properties may require additional treatments depending on mosquito pressure, property conditions, surrounding habitat, weather and other site-specific factors.
What conditions support mosquito activity?
Standing water can support breeding. Dense vegetation, shade and recurring moisture can provide resting areas. Weather and surrounding habitat also influence the activity you notice.
Can mosquitoes still come from neighbouring properties?
Yes. Mosquitoes can fly in from neighbouring properties and surrounding natural areas. Treatment of your property cannot prevent every incoming mosquito.
What can I do between treatments?
Remove avoidable standing water, check containers and drainage, maintain vegetation and note where activity continues. These measures support treatment but do not guarantee control.
How long is the mosquito service warranty?
Reliant provides a 3-month service warranty after completion of the standard two-treatment program, according to the approved mosquito-service terms. Contact Reliant about continued activity and the follow-up that applies to your service.
Does treatment eliminate every mosquito?
No. Treatment aims to reduce activity in the serviced areas. Weather, standing water, vegetation and incoming mosquitoes can affect the result. The service warranty does not promise that the property will contain no mosquitoes.
What affects the price?
Property size, treatment area, vegetation, access, mosquito pressure, site conditions and the number of treatments needed affect the quote. A phone estimate is based on the information available; the final recommendation and price follow assessment.
